I am on a search for an open source accounting application. Aria looks inactive. SQL Ledger is excellent but currently in turmoil and its not PHP which would be a plus for me. I recently came across WEBerp (http://www.weberp.org(link is external)) which seems reasonably active and is PHP based. I now have a trial install working. Do you have any feedback/ comment on this system?

Hmm. I'll have to check out Web ERP -- have not seen it yet.

I've been watching the turmoil around SQL Ledger, and I must say, the new fork, Ledger SMB, seems to have some promise. There's a core group of developers dedicated to making it work well, and they're digging up many underlying problems with the original SQL Ledger code. More importantly, they seem to be developing a reasonable plan to address them.

I agree with you, I'd prefer to see a good PHP-based application, but I really haven't seen any other open source financial packages that come close to matching SQL Ledger for a business web-based accounting package...
