We'd love to talk to you. Freelock is a small computer consulting business in Seattle, Washington with three main focuses:

  • Helping small businesses grow by using open source applications like Joomla, Drupal, SugarCRM, LedgerSMB, MediaWiki, and others
  • Managing Linux servers and mixed network environments
  • Creating spectacular custom web applications on the LAMP stack, with a heavy emphasis on PHP and Ajax

Web Programmer II PDF Print E-mail

Need:

Mid-level LAMP Programmer with experience working with Open Source projects.

Responsibilities:

  1. Create custom add-ons for PHP- and Perl-based open source packages (Joomla, MediaWiki, LedgerSMB, LimeSurvey, SugarCRM, Word Press, Gallery2, Serendipity, etc).
  2. Debug existing systems to find where to change specific items.
  3. Work with communities to get patches accepted upstream.
  4. Custom development using a mix of technologies: PHP, Perl, MySQL, Postgres, Smarty, Javascript, XML, AJAX, MVC architectures.
  5. Assist project managers with estimating time necessary to accomplish specific tasks and providing technical detail for specifications/proposals.
  6. Work with others on a team with a mix of many small projects and a few large ones all with conflicting priorities and deadlines.

Qualifications:

  1. Experience programming in a Linux environment.
  2. Demonstrated programming ability in PHP, Javascript or Perl, and interest in learning the others.
  3. Participation in an open source project.
  4. Self-directed, willing to work in a home-office environment as well as from home.
  5. Good communication skills, values good documentation.
  6. Ability and willingness to learn!
  7. Ability to accomplish tasks, review them and then redo them differently as needed... The ability to change with a good attitude.
